NASA West Virginia Space Grant Consortium
Follow the steps below to submit a NASA Undergraduate Space Grant Fellowship.
ELIGIBILITY Each students receiving a NASA Fellowship must:
Be a US citizen
Be a full-time undergraduate student in science/engineering/math/social science undergraduate student at Marshal University
CONDITIONS:
Fellowship recipients must be able to complete 10 hours of research work per week during the spring semester.
NASA fellowship participants are required to present their work
at the Marshall University Sigma Xi Research Day, held annually
in April.
Evaluation: Students will be evaluated based on:
Project proposal merit. NOTE: Students applying for continuing support will be required to includes a progress report in their resume text.
Recommendations from faculty sponsor.
GPA or ACT/SAT scores
Application Procedure: Students applying for this NASA Fellowship can access the application site by clicking on http://nasa.wvu.edu/program_higher.html and then clicking on "Application Login" in the middle of the page.
1) WV Space Grant Consortium Application (https://secure.spacegrant.org/apps/?pk=wvf1). You will need to register as a new user. Register as soon as possible in order to receive e-mail updates concerning the scholarships. Also, you can save your file and return to it as you complete the application which requests demographic information and the following:
One letter of recommendation from their Research Advisor.
(Note: A faculty member can only act as a Research Advisor for a maximum of
two NASA Fellowship projects.)
A copy of your university transcript
in .pdf format (this does not need to be an official transcript). Project
description (500 words or less). Describe the research project that
you will be conducting. This description should include but not be limited
to a description of the research, whether it is to be a new project or
continuing support, start and end dates, significance and or uniqueness of
the research, approach used to achieve the objectives, expected results, and
budget. Applicants can not request more than $250 in research supplies. If
the project is a team project, then applicants must clearly indicate the
tasks to be completed by each team member and list their percent effort on
the project. New Project: Provide a summary
that clearly state the objectives,
significance, and uniqueness of the project; the approach used to achieve the objectives; and the expected outcomes of the project tasks
Continuing Support: Provide a summary that states the objectives, significance and uniqueness of the research proposed for the upcoming year, and any new approaches used to achieve the objectives, and the expected outcomes of the new project tasks. e). In these proposals, students should explain and justify their need for continued funding.
Team Project: Provide a summary of a description of the research, start and end dates, significance and or uniqueness of the research, approach used to achieve the objectives, expected results, and budget. Team project applicants must clearly indicate the tasks to be completed by each team member and list their percent effort on the project. Each team member needs to submit an on-line application.
Note:
Project description over 500 words will be NOT be considered and returned without evaluation.
All members of the Grant Consortium Advisory Committee will evaluate proposals. Therefore, write the summary for a broad scientific audience. Feel free to talk to the Committee member in your discipline about your proposal.

Resume of 300 words or less in which you
Describe your career and research interests in space and aerospace-related fields.
Describe any relevant work or co-op experience, academic awards, and/or honors.
Please describe your short and long term career goals (5 and 20 years).
If you have previously received funding from West Virginia Space Grant Consortium, you will be asked to provide your final report here. You may submit your Sigma Xi poster for this section.
