Master of Arts in Mathematics - Application Information
There are two separate applications:
- Application for Admission to the Degree Program
- Application for a Graduate Assistantship (Optional)

Program-specific Application Requirements
The degree program in mathematics has the following particular requirements for applicants:
- Applicants must submit GRE scores to the Graduate Admissions
Office. The scores are considered when awarding graduate assistantships
and during initial advising.
- To ensure full consideration for admission, applicants must submit
completed applications, including all required admission
credentials, to the Graduate Admissions Office at least two weeks before
the beginning of the upcoming semester.
- Applicants wishing to be considered for a graduate teaching/research
assistantship are advised to have all required credentials submitted by
May 15 for the fall semester and by November 15, if admission is for the
spring semester.
Application for a Graduate Assistantship
Applicants wishing to be
considered for the Graduate Teaching or Research Assistantship
must submit a separate application form
to the Assistant Chair for Graduate Studies, in addition to applying for
admission to the degree program.
The application form for an assistantship
can be obtained from the Department of Mathematics.
The application must be accompanied by three letters of
reference and a personal statement.
