where at house I use to be late at
breakfast in consequence of a
previous nights [illlegible] where
you would be there to pour my
coffee and butter the buck-
wheat cakes for me do you re-
member. oh those good old days.
they are past now and never to
return. I am no longer a
boy I will soon be thirty years
old. I will soon begin the decline
that I have so often been warned
of, and now it is that I look back
and hope to be able to make up the
time I have lost in idleness. I can-
not tell ^by^ whom how often I have ^was^
warned in days past to im-
prove my time. I can and do rec-
colect however that I paid but
little attention to that warning
No doubt you have learned that Venie
gave birth to a boy on the 8th of Jan-
uary I received a letter to day
from Mr [illegible] inorm-
ing me that Venie and the
