Study Abroad
The Department of Modern Languages offers four Study Abroad programs: two in Spanish, other in Japanese, and other in French.
Spain: Sudents can earn six (6) hours of academic credit in a month (June or July) or twelve (12) hours of academic credit in two months (June and July) by studying at the Centro de Estudios Hispánicos of the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid, Spain. The program offers courses in the Spanish language at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. It also offers courses in composition, conversation, literature, history and art. The professors are native speakers of Spanish who hold advanced degrees and who are accredited by the Spanish Ministry of Education.
Every year the students enrolled in the program depart the 30th of May and return June 30th or July 31st. While in Madrid the students reside with Spanish families. Costa Rica: Sudents can earn six (6) hours of academic credit by studying at the Universidad de Costa Rica, in Costa Rica from June 16 until July 22. The program offers courses in Spanish language at the elementary, and intermediate levels. The program provides students the opportunity to explore the ecological and cultural wonders of this Mesoamerican country. The professors are qualified
speakers of Spanish who hold advanced degrees from Costa Rica or the US.
Every year the students enrolled in the program depart 16 of June and return July 22ndh. While in Costa Rica the students reside with local families. The total price of $3,500 includes round trip air ticket, accommodation, three daily meals and excursions. Contact Dr. Slav N. French: Sudents can earn six (6) hours of academic credit by studying at the Université Catholique in Lyon, France during the month of July. The program offers courses in the French language at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. It also offers courses in composition, conversation, literature, history and art. The professors are native speakers of French who hold advanced degrees and who are accredited by the French Ministry of Education.
