INTERVIEW:

Why did you choose to study at Marshall University?
I really liked the School of Journalism at Marshall. The fact that it was only 2 hours from my hometown was also a big plus.

What do you like best about your degree program?
I like the welcoming atmosphere of the journalism school and how helpful the professors are. I studied broadcast in undergrad and it wasn’t until later that I found my love for Public Relations after being encouraged to broaden my horizons by the different faculty members in the J-School.

What was your biggest surprise about graduate school?
For me it is surprisingly less stressful since the classes are more spread apart and usually only once a week.

What is the best class you have had and why?
With only being a first year graduate students my best class was in undergrad. It was Law of Journalism and mass Communications. I felt the class helped prepare me for my future as a journalist and gave me a lot of insight to what has created today’s journalism.

What are your plans after graduate school?
I hope to apply for both TV news reporter and PR practitioner jobs. I know they are two different jobs but I’m hoping that everything will work out for the best.

If you had not gone to graduate school, what other path would you have followed?
I would probably be pursuing a career as a news reporter.

What do you do outside of your studies for fun?:
When I’m not studying I’m working as a GA for Digital Services, volunteering at the school’s radio station, WMUL as the news director, and watching crime shows with my friends.

Tell us one thing about yourself that might surprise your friends.
I would love to direct short films one day. Theater and acting have always been a passion of mine.
