Applications for courses that have not previously held this designation need to be made using the university Course Change or Course Addition Forms (http://www.marshall.edu/senate/ucc/) with the materials below appended.

On the Course Change form, explanation of adding the [international or multicultural] designation needs to be explained beside the “Change in Course Number” as well as in the “Explanation” section. On the Course Addition Form, next to “First Term to be Offered” please put in “Designator: _____” and the appropriate designation thereafter.

 

All submissions – first time or recertification – must include…

(1) A page addressing how the course addresses MC Studies Content Requirements, as illustrated in the blank matrix below:

 

MC Studies Content Requirements	How does the course content address the MC content requirements? Name and briefly describe, for example, readings, lectures, videos, interactions, discussions.	How do instructors assess the MC content requirements? Name and briefly describe, for example, evaluation standards for exams, papers, projects, presentations.
Students explain and examine multiple cultures other than their own.
Students evaluate their own culture by recognizing, distinguishing, comparing, and assessing other cultures.

 

 

(2) A detailed sample syllabus which includes:

a. A list of typical assignments and assessments tied to MC learning outcomes;

b. A list of typical readings; and

c. A weekly schedule of activities.
