Interested in the complexities of language, language learning, and language teaching, he has worked as an ESL/EFL teacher and a teacher trainer in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Spain, and the United States. He holds a Ph.D. in Second Language Studies from Michigan State University and an M.Ed. in Bilingual Education, ESL, and Multicultural Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His current research interests center around the application of cognitive linguistics and sociocultural theory to language instruction.
