COS scholarships are typically awarded to students who have at least one semester or more of COS coursework and who meet the appropriate criteria. Incoming freshmen should contact the MU Financial Aid Office for general scholarship information.

- J. Churchill Hodges Summer
Scholars. Awarded to a graduating senior from any Cabell County
Public High School who is registered as a full-time, undergraduate
Marshall University student majoring in science, mathematics or
engineering; or in education in any of these fields. The student(s)
shall serve in the capacity of undergraduate research assistance to
an eminent professor in Biotechnology, or its successor. This award is to
be used as a stipend to support the student(s) during the summer
internship. It is not renewable and shall be granted to a new
student(s) each year.
- Tom and Sally McNeill Lemke Scholarship.
Recipient shall have a high school GPA of 3.5 or
better. First preference shall be given to students from Hardy
County, WV and Schuylkill County, PA (or successor school systems).
Second preference shall be given to students from Berkeley, Grant,
Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, or Morgan county WV.
Recipients shall be a full-time incoming freshmen with a
demonstrated financial need.
- Leopold K. and Elizabeth F. Marmet Fund.
- Dr. John J. and Mary S. Sheridan Scholarship. Recipient shall be a full-time undergraduate student who has a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a
College of Science major. First preference shall be shown to
students who are on the swim team. Second preference shown to
students who participate in other non-revenue sports while at
Marshall University.

- James H. Debord Memorial
Scholarship.
Science and Math scholarship shared with the College of
Business and Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
- Gene Kuhn Memorial Scholarship.
$250 scholarship for a full-time, incoming or
established undergraduate student who has demonstrated financial
need. Recipient must be a West Virginia resident and have a 2.9 or better GPA.
- Anna V. Love Scholarship.
Recipient shall be a full-time, undergraduate student in COS who has
demonstrated financial need. First preference shall be given to
graduates of Cabell Midland High School, Ona, WV.
- Jane Whitley Mittendorf. Shared between Biology,
Chemistry, Clinical Lab, Geology, and Physics.

- Dr. Charles J.
Gould Jr. Botany Scholarship/Travel Award.
Awarded by the Chair
of the Department of Biological Sciences in cooperation with the
Office of Student Financial Assistance to a graduate or
undergraduate student with a Botany major.
- Shelba Glenn Pew
Research Fund.
Award is for stipends or expenses to support travel for research
activities in the COS areas of Environmental Sciences, Biological
Sciences and Biotechnology. Recipient shall be a full-time
undergraduate, graduate, or faculty member in COS. Priority given to
students.

Notices for
all of these are posted several weeks prior to selection on doors on the 4th
floor, usually around the beginning of March. Applications are in the
Chemistry office, but will not be distributed until the notices go up. Contact: Chemistry Department at 304/696-2430.
- The Gary D. Anderson Scholarship.
Awarded annually to a chemistry major.
- The Paul and Catherine Babb
Scholarship. Awarded annually to a chemistry major and provides assistance towards that student's
academic expenses.
- Brammer Brothers Scholarship. Provides in-state tuition assistance and fees assistance to
an out-of-state chemistry major student.
- The Gamma Eta Scholar Award.
Awarded annually to a member of Alpha Chi
Sigma Professional Chemistry Fraternity based a combination of scholarly excellence and active
participation in the Gamma Eta chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma.
- Bernard L. and Sylvia Rosen Miller Memorial. Recipient
shall be a full-time, undergraduate student in COS who has a Chemistry,
Biochemistry, or Physics major.
