
Athletic Training
The Athletic Training Program at Marshall University (MU) deals with the prevention, protection, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Athletic trainers are an integral part of health care in the clinical, high school, college and professional settings. The certified athletic trainer has the medical and physiological skills necessary to provide initial assessment and treatment of injury and the foresight to reduce the risk of their occurrence.

The CAATE accredited athletic training education program offers classes in first aid, assessment of orthopedic injuries, health assessment, modalities, therapeutic exercise, and current trends in athletic training. Anevidencebasedpractice approach integrated with five clinical experience rotations with collegiate sports, high school sports, and allied health clinics prepare Marshall athletic training students for the next generation of health care professionals. Many of our students go to graduate school in various fields (e.g. medical school, physical therapy school, cardiac rehab, athletic training, strength & conditioning, etc.) and become dual credentialed. MU is located in the WV, OH, & KY tri-state area in Huntington, WV.
