Students who are admitted to Marshall University may enroll as Pre-Dietetics majors prior to meeting requirements for the Dietetics Major/DPD. While enrolled as a Pre-Dietetics major, students are encouraged to meet with an advisor in the Department of Dietetics and may begin taking courses required for admissions into the DPD program. Admission to the Dietetics Program

Entry to the Dietetics Major/DPD involves formal application by candidates. Application forms are available from the DPD Director’s Office (Prichard Hall 315A) and electronically. Students must submit one copy of the application to the DPD Director’s Office upon completion of the criteria below. Prior to admission into the DPD, students interested in the major should enroll in Pre-Dietetics. Students must be admitted into the DPD prior to taking 400-level DTS courses.

The following criteria are used for admission into the dietetics major:

  1. Overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher.
  2. A minimum of 45 hours of coursework successfully completed.
  3. Completion of DTS 201 and DTS 202 with a grade of C or higher.

Assessment of Prior Learning and Credit toward Program Requirements

Students who have taken courses or received a degree from other institutions and are interested in completing DPD requirements or obtaining a degree in Dietetics from Marshall University are asked to contact the Program Director, Jana Hovland, at 304.696.2507 to obtain a transcript evaluation. Credit toward DPD requirements is determined on an individual basis by both the Program Director and the University’s Office of Admissions.
